A wonderful asset to Caeleste as a whole! Not only does she dedicate her time as a staff member but she also spends a lot of her time being an amazing writer! She is very friendly in the chat box and her characters are very well developed. It seems everytime she steps into chat box or our discord, everything seems to light up! We are blessed to have her apart of the team and cannot thank you enough for your dedication and creativity!
  • Thread of the Month
Standing in the Way of the Light
A wild tale of two very dark creatures meeting for a second time... Xavier, possessed by 'The Darkness' tries to warn Resin about the demon inside of him but she is far too fearless to listen. Long story short The Darkness and Resin strike a deal... For twelve months the demon will on feed on her and then on the last day of the twelve months it will leave Xavier's body and never return. However it refuses to leave empty handed and as it leave Xavier it will take Resin's soul! It's a daring, darking, emotional and twisted thread that won't leave you dissapointed!
  • Couple of the Month
    Rhiannon & Wellington
A very interesting duo that you would never expect to be friends. The noble, strong headed, and rather independant Rhiannon versus Wellington, an eccentric character that has a weak moral compass but hilarious nonetheless. Their dynamics make for very interesting and rather comical threads. You can't help but wonder why a mare like Rhiannon spends her time with a creature like him but then also thankful she is there to take care Wellington and save him from all of his shenanigans.
  • Character of the Month
A soul tormented by his own demons and terrible past, Xavier is a unique character to Caeleste. The poor boy seems to have endured Hell - quite literally - only to be further tormented in recent times. While he is not the monster that lives within him, his hold on the metaphorical beast seems to be waning. We can't wait to see what is in store for Xavier's future and whether or not he will shake the hold of his inner demons!
  • Quote of the Month
"Another time, perhaps. I believe we've both tormented him enough for today."

A sad moment in the thread Standing in the Way of the Light where Resin turns down the Darkness, the demon within Xavier. However tempted, she has more respect for Xavier and tries to decline as delicately as she knows... It is a capturing moment where the apathetic Resin shows something for the damned Xavier.

Fire Control (Primary Sorcery)

"To say Gabriel was surprised by that sudden outpouring of affection was an understatement. Ally had kissed him before, much wasn't new. But the gentle way she did so now, as light as if a butterfly had landed on his somber hide and the breeze that it's wings stirred was dancing through the hair. It sent a shiver up his spine like an electric shock, sending it's tingling fingers straight to his knees. Had he not been standing so stock still he might have fallen to those tingling knees, as overcome with emotion as he was. She reminded him of a jar of fireflies being opened. So much light contained in one place before spilling out, tumbling over itself in its race to dance between the starts, reaching out for those distant pinpricks of light like a child for a toy."

-Height: An impressive 20 hands high
-Base color: Black, much like coal dust
-Markings: Devoid of any white, though beginning to grey around his many scars and across his rump, almost in an appaloosa like pattern with webbing across his spine.
-Mane and tail: Black as pitch
-Eyes: Dark brown, the left eye is blind and covered by an eyepatch
-Build: Thick, muscular and sturdy. As though hewn from stone and wrapped in velvet, Gabriel's body is typical of a draft of his size.
-Extraneous appendages: None. No horn, no wings. Nothing extra to get in his way. His wings were stripped from his body as a child, not as though they would lift his girth off of the ground anyway.
-Hooves: Larger than dinner plates, black as tar. His mother used to joke that his hoof-prints would leave small ponds for mice to drink from.
-Scars: Around his lower legs from where other horses and predators had left their marks him, across his eye and muzzle, causing the one to now be white. Across the rest of his body, thin welts are visible from being beaten as a child.
-Feathers: Non-existent.

Where once stood a soldier who hated and killed and wanted nothing more than to spend his life hunting criminals, now stands a man quite changed. It's uncertain where the click happened, where the change turned the soldier into a lover. He used to spend hours upon hours using his words to corner people into situations that they couldn't get themselves out of, now he cannot seem to form a simple sentence properly unless inspired by some great event. The meanings of the phrases of this new world are lost on him and he now spends time listening more than speaking. Though when he does speak, it is stumbling and soft, often sounding slightly foolish. He would once be the guard of a king, now nothing more than a wandering collector of stories. Do not mistake his pacifism for weakness however. His size is an indicator of his strength, and he will do whatever it takes to protect those he loves. But love is what this man does, and he collects others as one would collect pebbles on a beach. But not in a way that is rude or even demeaning. He collects them as friends, as beautiful reminders of how the world can be. However, jealousy often seeps into this man's heart, a protective overtone that makes him seem like the over-bearing older brother of many of the creatures that he has collected. It isn't because he doesn't trust the judgement of those he has adopted as his own, it is simply because he cares.

Gabriel was born into the dead of winter. His mother hadn't been quite sure that she would even give birth to him, as for weeks before he had stopped moving around. But one dark winter's evening, he was brought into the world in a flurry of motions and tears. A small black colt with hooves too big, wings to small, and big brown eyes that looked sad. Ariska had been relieved that the babe had lived, all too worried that her body had failed the child within. He looked just like his mother, but the wings that had been placed upon his shoulders were all too reminiscent of his father. Ariska would not begrudge him his genetics, but she could not help but be saddened by it. She knew that if Father Mackenzie came roaming back through that she would be unable to deny that the child was his.

But those first few months of life were blissful. The spring washed away the winter's snows and brought about the plant shoots that poked their way from the permafrost. As though Mother nature was stretching her green fingers from the soil towards the sun. He spent time chasing after his elder sister and hanging around his mother's forge. But all good things come to an end and his childhood was no exception. His father came to town.

Father Mackenzie was never the doting father that he could have been. Their similarities were few and far between, save for the wings that sprouted from the child's shoulders. But Father Mackenzie did not wear those same adornments upon his own shoulders. Instead, there was a ragged scar that stretched across them, parts of jagged bone and too white sinews marring the landscape of his flesh. To see Gabriel, to see those raven's wings that crowned him like epaulets, it made him angry. Gabriel's first interaction with his father would be his mercenaries pinning him to the ground as his wings were rent from his shoulders. Ariska sent for healers to mend her broken child, but those fuzzy little baby wings would not regrow. The bird had been pinioned.

Over the next couple of months, Gabriel was taught to fight and to be a soldier by Father Mackenzie, beaten by the older mercenaries and men in the group. Eventually, as he reached a year old, he was deemed fit enough to travel along with them. Not as though he was truly given a choice. He knew better than to argue with him. Though Gabriel was steadily gaining on his father in height and muscle, he was still much smaller than the man and traveled with him without many words. This would be where he would gain his appreciation for silent acquiescence.

Years went by and Gabriel would follow his father, traveling by the man that he hated and feared, watching helplessly as he left a blood-stained yellow brick road in his path. That is until Gabriel turned three years old and slipped away in the dead of the night, encountering a monastery in his blind dash to escape his father. An old monk took him in that night, tending to his wounds in blissful silence and giving the young man a place to sleep for the night. When Gabriel would awaken in the morning, he would find the monk in his prayer room. This is where Gabriel would gain his first knowledge of the Old Gods. But he found peace within this monastery, knowing that his father wouldn't come searching for him here of all places. It seemed safe, hallowed. Until one day he heard screaming in the woods.

Gabriel followed the source of the sound and came across a child who was being kicked around by what appeared to be her older sibling. Gabriel scolded the elder of the two children then, taking them back to their mother. He had no patience for abject cruelty, especially at the hands of family. But as he returned to his post at the monastery that evening, he realized that he had grown restless, and so at first light, his bags were packed and he was traveling once again.

It didn't take him long, only a couple of months really before he reached the borders of Pantheon. He conscripted himself into the service of the Incendiary Realm to guard some of the temples there, but after it was deemed that he was ruining too many rugs in the foyers of the temples, he was sent to guard the Capital City. It was there where he met a girl named Alderaan in the Marketplace. She was a stunning young thing with moons tied into her hair. She had stumbled upon him eating from a bag of sweets, having just gotten off of a particularly rough evening of guard duty. Needless to say, the boy was smitten, though her minute companion couldn't quite say the same.

He would find her again at a Masquerade Ball, finding each other like magnets across the room from each other. They have found and lost each other more times than they can count, though whether they find themselves in each other arms or lose themselves in the other's eyes is hard to say. Somehow, this girl had become the focal point of his little world.

Gabriel had gone looking one day for gemstones in the rocks beyond the walls of the capitol, farther than he usually traveled. He had sought them as a gift for Alderaan, commissioning an artisan to make a chain of pendants and gems to hang from her hair. But his travels had drug him into greater danger than he could have imagined. He ran aground of a massive war party that had been scouting the Capitol for weeks, learning its secrets and preparing for an attack that would leave it reeling. Though he attempted to escape and warn the guards, he was captured and sent away with a group of slaves to be sold before the war happened. He would already be several days gone by the time they began their siege, though somewhere in his dazed state he could almost imagine that he could hear Alderaan's cries. Perhaps it was just the fever.

From there he was taken to a slave trading post in a city with a massive coliseum, stripped of his magic by a priest after an attempt to escape from his binds. When his magic was stripped away, he began to shrink, far smaller than his previous twenty-five hands, as though the heat in his bones had been the only thing holding him that high. He spent a few days in holding, hating those who came to look him over. But a family, in particular, had garnered his hatred. The matriarch had looked at him as he had been drug into her house the way one would look at a dead mouse behind a cupboard. Useless. Unwanted. Dirty. But her son looked him over as though he was a piece of meat, something to toss to the wolves in the Coliseum. It made Gabriel's skin crawl and when their slave master outbid them all, he couldn't help but feel as though his stomach had sunk out beneath his feet.

At first, Gabriel couldn't have been certain what he wanted with him, but soon after it became apparent. He wanted him as a warrior, and wouldn't take no for an answer on either. So that became his life for a brief time, working to gain his slaver's trust until his magic was briefly gifted back for fights. He was being transferred to another city for a fight when he managed to make his escape, breaking away from it all. He had been given a small detail of guards for the transfer, having proven himself a good warrior in the Coliseum. But this was all a plot to get away. He ran for days and days, exhausted from the days of travel before. It took him several weeks to leave the lands where he was in danger of being recaptured before he stumbled upon the forests of Caeleste.

It was days before Gabriel reached the Cerulean Coast, finally stumbling upon those sands and watching as the sun sank beneath the waves. He was exhausted from his days of running and wanted nothing more than to cast himself into the sea. But that's when he heard her voice and his world came to a grinding halt. Alderaan was here.

It was like a dream for the pair of them, both of them thinking the other was dead. The emotional outburst of the evening would lead them to Alderaan's bed, where they would spend the night tangled together as only lover's do. They would spend the next few months traveling through the Celestial City, working to build Alderaan's shop from the ground up within an old building that needed lots of love, until Alderaan dropped a bombshell on him. They were expecting a child. Gabriel was ecstatic, he had always wanted to raise a child and now it seemed as though his life were finally settling down to how it should have been. But when the time came for the child to come, there was a second surprise. There was not one child, but two. Twin girls with a pair of large canine companions that frightened many of the townspeople, but kept the children safe. He couldn't help but be fond of the pair, they made him feel better about leaving to go continue guarding the city. This guarding would lead him to meet Aperture Volterra, the child that Alderaan had conceived while she was a war-bride. The child that she had never told Gabriel about.
