Setting
YEAR TWO | WINTER
The world is now white in many places, the highest peaks are inhospitable, even the Molten Apex is feeling the chill this season. Snow falls at times in places where there is usually none, the desert is absolutely freezing in the night but still warm in the day, as is the Devil's Perch. Hemanta is now very difficult to access for strangers who don't know the best paths. Rain is very frequent, turning to snow in most places, but the days the sun comes out are nice days, considering the temperatures. In the lowlands, the temperatures hit a maximum of about 64ºF/18ºC every day, going up to about 77ºF/25ºC in the desert regions, with overnights ranging from 23ºF/-5ºC to 50ºF/10ºC. In the highlands, the days barely reach 50ºF/10ºC on a good day, with most being a max of 39ºF/4ºC or so. Nights here range from 23ºF/-5ºC in the sheltered areas to -22ºF/-30ºC on the peaks.

”Come on, Leonidas!” The challenge was issued to a mostly empty forest. Humidity dripped, puddled in pools of thick, wet air scattered haphazardly between the trees. Charekai stood, head raised and moonlight dappled on his silver armor. What a stupid decision he had made, coming to the land of a god who he did not know and calling upon the leader of that god’s people, demanding he appear before a man tied to no place, with no followers or support. Reckless, stupid, impulsive. People would remember the challenge as such, but he had never been one to consider the whispered opinions of others. Their insidious doubts did not touch his thoughts.

Though he had to admit he could have played it smarter.

He could have waited, he could have played the game of politics and nobles until he had come into the throne without violence, but impulse and alcohol were catalysts he had never been good at forgoing. So he waited, his decision made and his challenge to the Emperor of Sharad lingering in the heavy summer air. The metal of his armor shifted as he moved his weight, heavy on his shoulders and reminding him of unspoken memories, of blood dripping onto worn cobblestones and a face in the darkness leering at him, hideous and enraged. He could vividly remember the few times he had fought with the intention of hurting, of beating and forcing his opponent into submission. They were limited in number, a collection of moments he revealed there was more to him than a playboy, more than a witty witch with a charming smile and a handsome face. He breathed in and felt the weight of armor upon his ribs, lifting with the expansion of his lungs. He exhaled. The plates of armor settled on his body and a clarity settled in his mind.

”Let's see who would make the best emperor.”

If he could fight and kill demons, a mortal emperor would hardly be a challenge.

“Sometimes the right path is not always the easiest one.”
(Emperor of Sharad) played by perm_identity Carhartt, posted on schedule 04-24-2017, 09:55 AM. link #2

LEONIDAS

The air was stagnant as the summer moon danced across the starlit sky of Silver Pines, Sharad’s sanctuary. Through the window of the weathered and worn shrine, the soft luminescence trickled in. There against the cracked alter in a pile of despair and misery was the so-called emperor of Sharad. Lids closed tight as his dished dial tucked carefully between the crook of his forelimbs. His barrel softly rose and fell in monotonous repetition. The scenery painted before the Deity Sharad within his divine shrine looked picturesque, so serene and tranquil yet what was brewing within Leonidas’s state of subconscious mind was not. Deep within his thoughts, he stood in a dark and bloodcurdling place. The walls of his beloved shrine were caving down on him, crumbling into a mysterious black hole much like the one that consumed Aashirya. Frantically he searched for an exit, but the stone and rubble pushed him closer to the hollow chasm.

Suddenly in a sharp jerk Leonidas awoke in a state of panic. Sweat had just began to bead across his metallic like pelt as his barrel heaved, lungs begging for oxygen. Deep sapphire orbs darted across the opaque shrine to find it still in good standing. With a heavy sigh of relief his lithe pillars beneath him lifted his stout and brawny bodice. Offering a harsh shake to try and rid his disturbing thoughts, he stepped outside the shrine into the impending moonlight. The moment he stood beneath the canopy of the looming old growths he knew he was not alone. Swinging his dial, his gaze caught sight of a stranger, one he had yet to come across. Instantly he was guarded, audits pinned flat against his poll as his massive antlers lifted to the heavens in a stoic and fortified manner. There was an eerie aura that radiated off the creature, one that made Leonidas extremely apprehensive. Through the silence, the words came forward like a surge of electricity, striking Leonidas where he stood. ”Let's see who would make the best emperor.” A state of shock resonated over him, rocking his very core.

The silence slipped around Leonidas, wrapping around his nape like a noose. He searched for the words but found nothing but disbelief. Who was he? Leonidas searched every nook and cranny of his memories, trying to find the stranger’s face, but alas came up empty. In all honesty, Leonidas felt a sense of relief wash over him. Was this the answer he had been searching for? Ever since he lost Naveen he felt he was no longer worthy of his title. He spent most of his days praying to Sharad, begging for some sort of answer. Was this the answer he had been searching for all this time?  His bottom lip quivered as his jaws parted, ready to speak. He wondered if it was time to relinquish his crown, to step down willingly and turn away from his responsibilities. But something stopped him dead. Harena… Everything she had done for him would be for nothing. This was a sign from Sharad, however it wasn’t the one he initially believed it to be. No, this was his time to shine, to step forward and show his undying devotion. It was the chance to prove his self-worth and dedication. It was evident that his dream was far more than just an unsettling nightmare, it was a premonition of this very battle. Would he succumb to the crumbling walls and fall into the pit of nothingness, or would he prevail and rebuild those walls to a far greater empire?

Finally, the emperor stepped forward with conviction. The uncertainty and shock instantly dissipated as if stepping into a veil of supremacy. Muscles quivered beneath the russet pelt as sapphire orbs gazed over the creature’s daunting armor, noticing the height difference but it was no reason to waiver. In a world of larger than life opponents, Leonidas was only forced to be more determined and fearless. Tones far deeper than most expected, emitted from his charcoal lips with a robust yet nostalgic manner. “I will not lose, because even in defeat a valuable lesson is learned.” The words were so uplifting, he could feel his own soul pull from the dark pits of self-pity and rise to the fortitude it once lived. Lithe pillars descended the dilapidated stairs and stopped a respectful distance from the stranger. His stoic façade never once faltered as he stood there proud and ready to accept his fate Sharad had set for him. There was no need for any more words, when it came down to it Leonidas did not care for who this fool was nor why he came with his brazen challenge. Deep down, Leonidas knew he had the upper hand. It wasn’t because of his skill, experience, or even his strength. It was because Leonidas had something more than his ego to lose. He had an entire empire depending on him and his conquest to victory.

(Wanderer) played by perm_identity Mazzira, posted on schedule 04-26-2017, 03:11 AM. link #3
The forest held still for him as he waited for an answer, spinning listlessly on a single thread of suspended tension drawn out long and taut. One sound warded off complete silence: the steady tempo of air rushing in and out of his lungs, filling his chest. He listened, feline ears twitching in the thick, soupy air. There would be blood on the autumn leaves scattered across the forest floor, so out of place and in the wrong season that if the heat was anything but heavy he could have been in a different time, a different place long before whispers of Leonidas and his slowly decaying rule reached him, before he had even left his home. Somewhere in the space between Caeleste and his childhood, lost on a path he had littered with late nights full of soft lips on skin and sad eyes as he continued upon his path in the morning, there was a moment he could not wait to forget. Leaves had been skittering across cold, hard stone that night and blood shone in the moonlight.

Blood had been on his teeth, dripping from his hairline and flowing from ruptured capillaries and veins. His throat was coated in it, the taste of blood so heavy that he could smell the tangy iron. And above him, a handsome face was twisted with anger and spite. A drop of his own blood dripped onto him from the man’s lips. Harsh light splintered around him like a broken halo, scattered spikes of energy an aching display for Char’s eyes. An ability since lost, a harsh distinction between reality and memory shattering a moment of decisive anger the blonde man so rarely felt. Oh yes, he was to fight again, he was to feel that aching burn of violence once again, replace the blood he had long since washed off his soft, thick pelt.

And what for?

Boredom, the childish need to have something to do he had never been able to shake, the habitual need to dictate the path of his life towards anything that would entertain him just to have something to do with himself. Others would challenge for glory, for the good of the land or for what they believed to be justice. Charekai fought to dull his restlessness and ease the monotony of living. He had no opinions of his opponent, nothing weighing on his mind and spinning the other into a devious light. How could he when they knew nothing of each other? Charekai was a wanderer, herded to Caeleste by the hounds of his past, and Leonidas was a reclusive emperor of a deep forest rarely visited. Opinions were only formulated when actions had allowed them to, and so his challenge was one of impulse and entertainment.

Opinions were made when a figure emerged from the darkness, appearing between bone white pillars as if a spectre, the type of ghost Charekai had once contained and drawn power from. He was small, walking as though there was a great weight on his shoulders. There was nothing kingly about him, nothing that made the witch sit up and take notice of him, but he was the one who answered the candid challenge so who else would it be but Leonidas? The reclusive emperor of Sharad seemed shocked, his eyes silvery in the moonlight and spilling over with his confusion. Charekai was quick to respond with a grin both charming and challenging. No, Leonidas did not know him, he did not know what the witch was capable of. Of course, he knew nothing of Leonidas. A fine, dangerous edge to walk on for two men moments away from battle.

The smile had settled on his face, unmoved by the other man’s words. Perhaps a little more light filled his blue-green eyes, but the colour was drained by the moonlight, leeched into the darkness and mystery that cloaked the forest. They were on the cusp of a fight, yet Charekai approached his opponent as if he were greeting an old friend. His stride was confident and friendly, his pause before the emperor respectful. He bowed his head, lowering his gaze to Leonidas’s level. A soft breath warmed the space between them as an unspoken offering of friendship when the battle was done. He had nothing against the man.

”Is that supposed to comfort you, or me?” he said, his deep voice full of warm amusement. There was nothing spiteful to him, nothing cruel or immediately intimidating. They did not know each other, they knew not of the pain and worries drifting listlessly in the others mind. There was nothing intimate to the conflict, no anger burning through them, just a man seeking a respite from boredom and an emperor drawn from the solitude he had veiled himself in if the whispers around Caeleste were correct.

Even as he jerked his head up, messy blonde waves of his hair falling over the fluffy arch of his muscular neck, his expression hardly shifted from a friendly teasing, an odd softness in his shadowed eyes. Smoothly and quickly he settled his weight into his hindquarters. Lifting his front feet from the leaf littered ground he struck out with both cloven hooves. It was a dirty move, intended to take the other by surprise.

Respect was no reason to fight fairly.

Stats:
Uninjured
1/1 full dodge, 3/3 partial dodges, 3/4 attacks
Summary: Charekai approaches Leonidas, greets him and jokes about Leo's comment. He then rears up and strikes out at Leo's neck and face, hoping to land a few blows before Leo can act. No dodges or defenses are used.

LEONIDAS

Everything about this encounter was unexpected, it left Leonidas’s head spinning and his normal stoic façade staggering. Typically, with any battle there was a trivial tension between two entities, however this was not the case. One could not judge a book by its cover however Leonidas couldn’t help but assume the feline like equine was a fool, full of ego and brazen lust for entitled power. As Leonidas stepped into the subtle moonlight, he noticed the charming grin that danced across the contestant’s smug maw. Even if the creature was attempting to be cordial, Leonidas wouldn’t accept such deceit. Anyone who came with such a challenge could not be trusted, especially a stranger. Enamels clamped down with a deliberate amount of force causing his muscles to ripple across his wideset jowls. Molars clicked against one another grinding ever so slightly—he was obviously goaded from the task at hand.

As he descended the dilapidated set of steps, he was sure to never take his gaze off the fool. His brows narrowed ever so slightly, carefully to watch every muscle, every flick he had to offer.  The Tribe had taught him the art of battle and he knew to never underestimate one’s opponent. The fact he had no recollection of this creature made him far more guarded and unsettled. Leonidas had no idea what this fool was capable of, he could only assume he was somewhat skilled enough to come here so arrogantly, striding in like he had no worry of defeat. With his ivory crowned dial held high, his unyielding features never once faltering. He offered no amiability, not even the smallest hint of amicable behavior. It was not until the bold creature moved forward that Leonidas’s chiseled features began to waiver. Audits pinned tightly against his poll as he took a sharp step back with his rear haunch but nothing more. Long tendrils from his whipcord slapped his barrel as his slender nape snaked out in callous warning. How dare he saunter over as if they were allies and this was just a little spar to pass the time! This battle could make or break the leadership Leonidas had worked so strenuously to achieve, and the fact this fool played it off as a total joke, was not only insulting but infuriating!

Leonidas remained planted, watching the creature harshly, assuming the worse. Muscles tensed as he kept his nape stretched forward, his upper lips curled to offer the threat of pearly enamels. Noticing his lack of attack, Leonidas could feel his muscles ask to relax but he refused to allow such lax behavior. No, this creature had made its first mistake already and Leonidas was far too intelligent to fall for such foolery. Whatever this creature’s game was, Leonidas was not going to fall for it. ”Is that supposed to comfort you, or me?” The competitor tried to be somewhat witty with his cool and collected tones. Instead of responding Leonidas just shook his dial in slight disgust. He didn’t have time for these ridiculous games. Despite his soft gaze and somewhat amiable tones Leonidas was ready for whatever he had to offer. Growing up, he firmly believed in never starting the fight— so he waited. He waited for the striped equine to make the first move, allowing him to start this vital battle—that way Leonidas could be the one to finish it.

As to be expected the tender politeness and amiable actions were all a fallacy. Like snow in the dead of summer, the feline like equine turned from kinder to killer in a matter of seconds. The space between them was far too short to have enough time to respond. Cobalt orbs watched as the scene unfolded, a furry of daggers slicing through the atmosphere towards his dial and nape. Instead of rearing back, or jumping away Leonidas felt himself crouch back and allow his haunches to launch him forward. With every ounce of his weight and muscle behind him he flew forward in attempt to drive into the opponent and knock him off his feet! He tucked his dial forward aiming his massive antlers towards the opponent’s chest and underside of his barrel. Just as he did the fool’s right dagger sliced across his right brow and down to the middle of his jowl. It split the skin in a clean but deep cut at least six inches long, just barely missing his eye socket. Pained seeped into his body, shaking him to the core. He grunted sharply as he slightly tilted his dial to the left from an automatic response to the strike. He was already in mid action as the dagger struck him so he gathered all his will power to push past the pain the best he could and attempt to make contact with the bloke. Leonidas had everything on the line and he’d be damned if he allowed some gash slow him down.

Summary » Leonidas is guarded and refused to offer any amiability. To be expected Charelkie attacks within close range not offering enough time to retreat. Instead Leonidas lurches forward pointing his antlers towards Charelike’s chest/underbelly as he rears. As he does Charelki’s right hood strikes just above his eye and down to his cheek. Its deep and about six inches long just missing his eye. He tilts his head just slightly to the left from the pain as he attacks.

“When will you learn the road to hell is paved with more than just good intentions?”
(Wanderer) played by perm_identity Mazzira, posted on schedule 04-28-2017, 03:34 PM. link #5
Before he had parted from his family, leaving their petty coven politics and expectations behind, he fought demons; beings quicker than the eye could follow with the strength to knock even him off his feet. They were witches, all of his family, powerful with their magic and trained to be formidable opponents to all that challenged them to combat. Charekai excelled with magic, but the shivering, hair-trigger intensity of battle lingered on as weakness for him. The training had sunk deep into his subconscious, honing his instincts but never sharpening them to perfection. His underhand attack of striking at Leonidas’s face and hitting him, his hoof scraping over his cheek with a small scattering of silvered blood dark against the dark forest, was a mere cover for his disadvantage. He had wanted space, a moment to recollect and consider his opponent, but he was given no more than a split second to react on instinct, on long-buried training that left him still for too long.

He threw his weight down to his right a moment too late.

Pain struck him hard, a jolt of agony that only increased as his hooves touched the ground. The left side of his lower neck throbbed. He was unbalanced by the charge, pushed to his right and leaning his weight to the left to find his center of gravity once again. Leonidas’s deadly crown of antlers pressed deeper into his thick fur. A snort of pain came from him, air rushing from his lungs. One tine popped through his skin, the others raking through the longer strands of his silky mane. With a grunt he tore away from Leonidas, fresh blood wetting his fur. His hooves crushed fragile, dry leaves beneath them with the few steps he took backwards. Keeping the space between them, he glanced at his shoulder. Red stained soft sandstone, but the black mottled over it showed none of the sluggishly bleeding wound. His neck looked like a bloody massacre, and beneath his soft pelt he knew bruises were already forming from the impact with the other man’s horns. His soft, if slightly pained, blue-green gaze shifted from his bloodied side to Leonidas.

”You’re pretty up close.” The words came easily, flirtations rolling off his tongue as smoothly as a good whiskey went down, but there was something in the deep drawl of his voice: a hitch in his tone as he placed his left hoof on the ground in a momentary retreat. His shoulder protested against the requirement for the abused muscle and torn skin to support him without a sign of the injury. He played it off, acting as though the stinging pain and dull ache was washed beneath the throbbing high of adrenaline. Though it burned, he dared not show the agony. Easy confidence and a flirtatious, sly grin were the best way to hide his pain, but the sexual suggestion was perfectly sincere. He had not been lying about the appearance of the emperor. ”Maybe we could settle this in a more fun way, with less blood but just as much sweat.”

He already knew the answer.

”No? Ok, ok. Maybe after we can arrange something.” A smirk lifted the right corner of his lips, innuendo obvious. His head tilted, eyebrows quirked as if his message was not clear enough. A part of Charekai knew that taunting him was a bad idea, but they were already fighting so he might as well have fun before they parted. There was a threat in his approach that had not been there before but he was ever friendly he took a few steps towards him, light and easy as if he were not aching. His gaze slid over Leonidas, looking over his slight form and branching rack of sharp tined antlers. The smaller man had his advantages, despite his lithe frame. No doubt he would be quicker on his feet, and his antlers were an issue. Charekai had already been on the wrong side of them. He rolled his shoulder, feeling the ache settle into his neck, seeping into his bones as surely as the blood began to thicken in his fur. With an obvious advantage to be used, a weakness of his foe that he could take and pull until the battle was done and his boredom was partially satisfied, a sense of purpose settled over him. Yet, despite the focus in his gaze belying the intent to harm, to control the battle, his pervasive amiability never drained, never lessened or became masked by bloodlust.

His footsteps shifted, weight settled upon his powerful hind end. Like a charging stag, he lowered his head and pointed his short, sharp horns towards Leonidas. In mere seconds, he leaped forward. It was an explosion of the strength so often hidden beneath his soft fur. He closed the space between them in a few short strides. His shoulder ached, his injured neck muscles desperate for a moment to rest, a week to recover from the painful points of contact the emperor’s horns had made. At the last moment, in the half stride before he made contact with the smaller man, he elegantly side stepped. Taking him from slamming head first into the emperor, allowing for the possibility that Leonidas would do the clever thing, the thing that Charekai was not doing, and dodge him. Positioned to the left of him, Charekai could feel the grin on his lips as he made another drastic change in his course. His hind feet bit into the forest floor, finding a solid surface to change his momentum with ease. His left shoulder strained, his leg refusing to support his weight as it hit the ground. Snatching it from the ground he instead struck his right hoof to the floor.

With his weight and the momentum from his charge behind him, he slammed his right side towards Leonidas’s left.

Stats:
Injured. A moderate stab wound to the muscle of his neck on the lower left side from Leonidas's horns. He is quite bruised and sore around that area on both left and right sides from the antlers. He is minorly lame on his left foreleg from the damage to his neck/shoulder.

1/1 full dodge, 2/3 partial dodges, 2/4 attacks
Summary:
Attempts to dodge Leonidas's charge, but moves too late takes full damage to his neck despite this attempt, however, he avoids being put off balance completely by getting all four feet on the ground(partial dodge used). To regain his balance, he pushed against Leonidas, taking more damage from his antlers but preventing himself from stumbling. His size allows him to mostly offset the power of Leonidas's charge. Knowing he is in a bad situation, he disengages and buys some time for himself to assess Leonidas while flirting with him, offering a way out for both of them that he knows is not going to be taken. A few playful steps towards Leonidas don't quite mask his tactic, as he leaps forward into a charge, side stepping to put himself on Leonidas's left side to prevent slamming face first into Leo's head and antlers, and also to avoid being put off balance by any possible attempts at dodging from his opponent. While alongside Leonidas, he leaps back towards him, aiming to slam his entire weight, plus the momentum behind his charge, into Leonidas. He stumbles on his lame left leg but manages to recover with his right. (attack used)

“Sometimes the right path is not always the easiest one.”
(Emperor of Sharad) played by perm_identity Carhartt, posted on schedule 05-01-2017, 10:57 AM. link #6

LEONIDAS
Despite the shrill pain that lingered across his chiseled jowls and the metallic crimson liquid that skated down them, Leonidas was determined to make contact with the hasty fool. With every ounce of fortitude, he felt his lungs hold steady, compressing every particle of oxygen. He prayed, hoping his patience and meticulous strategy would be prosperous. As muscles throughout his brawny bodice tensed and he lurched forward the angst of failure rolled over him, making his heart pound desperately against his ribcage. It was as if the world around them slowed to a standstill. Sapphire orbs narrowed as he watched the feline equine dance to the right, but he had just enough time to recalculate his attack. Twisting his barrel, he jerked right, chasing after Charekai with dangerous determination. Ivory tips slammed into his opponent sending a shockwave to the base of his massive antlers. They scraped across the thick pelt, peeling the hide back while one of the largest forks gouged into tight flesh. The musky scent of his foe was instantaneously replaced with raw acrid air; a heavy and festering scent of blood.

Once the contact was made, he felt Charekai’s body shudder to the right, moving away from Leonidas. Daggers scraped across the hardened forest floor as the two caught their balance. Forest debris skittered as long tendrils flew in a wild manner. Crimson liquid covered the tines of his right branch as he swung his entire bodice to face Charekai. His barrel heaved from the exhilaration as nares flared with an audible snort. A look of disdain and anticipation washed over his features. There was no sign of satisfaction, in all honesty he didn’t enjoy inflicting pain but he was going to what he had to do to protect not only his title but his family from this pompous prick. Piercing azure orbs looked over his foe,  the gore lashed across Charekai's nape reared its ugly head. There he waited for the counter attack, every muscle beneath his metallic-like pelt rippled with anticipation. Audits remained pinned against his poll until the fool spoke up. ”You’re pretty up close.” For a moment audits flickered sideways in a state of confusion. Did he really just say that?

Pure anger seethed through him as Leonidas began to get the impression this was all some big game for Charekai. Sharply Leonidas took a daunting step forward as the long strands of his whipcord slapped at his barrel in resentment. “Is this some fucking joke?” Unable to contain his anger, his left dagger struck forward, slicing through the thick and muggy atmosphere where it slammed into the hardened forest floor. “How dare you come here and mock me by treating this battle as if it was some measly spar! This battle not only writes the future for both of our lives but more importantly the lives that resign within Sharad! Have some respect and treat this with the magnitude it deserves!” His tones were thrown at Charekai like daggers, each word stronger than the last. ”Maybe we could settle this in a more fun way, with less blood but just as much sweat.” The playful words only angered Leonidas further as he took another intimidating step forward his left dagger scrapping at the realm’s soil in a furious paw. “There is no unit of measure for your level of stupidity.” The words were searing as they slipped from his charcoaled kissers. Leonidas noticed the slight wince across the smug features of his foe and slight flaccid unsteadiness of his left foreleg. Engraving the details into his mind he watched the fool who overused the tactic of distraction.

”No? Ok, ok. Maybe after we can arrange something.”It was rather comical that Charekai tried the same diversion. Did he take Leonidas as a fool? The large scrape across his charming features had slowed its steady stream of blood. Despite ignoring it, it had begun to swell causing his right socket to augment to the point that he was losing full range of sight. In result, he was sure to keep his left orb locked on target, awaiting Charekai’s attack. Keeping his gaze steady, Leonidas watched the feline like equine pounce into action. With enough time to think he half reared on his haunches until his hind end was in line with his foe, protecting his own head, nape and shoulders. With his dial turned away he jerked it to the right. His swollen orb was unable to make out just where Charekai was headed. Quickly he swung his dial to the left but it was too late. Charekai had danced from right to left in just enough time for Leonidas be unsuccessful in tracking Charekai’s attack. Trying what he could he pivoted just slightly. He tried to keep his rear end between one another shielding the vital parts of his body. Having to check twice, it gave Charekai enough time collide into his left hip in an explosion of power and weight.

A hot sear of pain shot through his body as Charekai collided with his left hip, one of his daggers clipping just below his hock down his cannon and stopping just before his pastern. The amount of force beneath the thrusted Leonidas down. His back end gave out beneath him. Muscles cringed as bones slammed into the hard soil, instantly bruising his right, hock, hip and ankle. Without hesitation and adrenaline pumping through his lithe frame, his front daggers dug deep against the earth and forced his back end up, where he twisted with defying speed. Being light and lithe gave him the advantage to a quick counter attack. Throwing his heavy dial to the left his nape snaked out and pearly whites emitted. There he shot forward, trying to make contract with the already bloodied shoulder and nape of his foe. Now that they were in close quarters, Leonidas felt the fury and anger seething into his veins like hot poison. If he was able to make contact he was ready to rip and tear at any flesh he could clamp his enamels around, hopefully to damage the already vitally injured area.

Summary » After Leonidas gouges Charekai he catches himself and waits for the next attack. He grows extremely angry at Charekai’s lack of taking the battle serious and offers a few cross words. He catches the brief limp and makes a mental note. His wound on his right eye has now began to swell hindering his sight. Leonidas starts to notice Charekai’s tactics with trying to catch him off guard with flirting and ready for the attack. As Charekai attack Leonidas swings his butt towards Charekai to protect his neck, head and shoulders. He tried to look with his right eye but it’s too swollen so he swings his head to the left but this gives enough time for Charekai to attack and not enough time to fully dodge it. (partial dodge used) He pivots just a second where Charekai collides into his left hip. Creating a cut from his hock clear down to his pastern and then knocking his rear end down. With adrenaline, he twists his body to the left and he tried to bite Charekai on his left side where his antler punctured his nape. (attack used) Leonidas is quick on his feet and due to their banter, beyond angry—he’s out for blood this time!
Damage Taken » The scrape across his right eye is barely bleeding but it was close enough to his socket to cause it to swell, thus hindering his sight. He has a deep slash on the outside of his left hindlimb from bellow his hock down across the cannon bone to the pastern and his right haunches (such as is hock, hip, ankle) is bruised and throbbing from hitting the ground so hard.

“When will you learn the road to hell is paved with more than just good intentions?”
(Wanderer) played by perm_identity Mazzira, posted on schedule 05-03-2017, 11:45 PM. link #7
”No, no. It’s just a game,” he countered the other man’s scolding with playful sarcasm.

In a flurry of leaves and deep, lustrous brown he watched the delicate emperor fall, his hind end hitting the ground with a heavy thud. He saw the man’s face drawn in anger, into pain and determination that burned more brightly than any emotion he had seen yet. He could see the swelling and blood on Leonidas’s eye, he could smell the tangy salt of his injuries and the stench of his adrenaline, his fury seeping into the still, murky air. A radiation of misplaced anger towards a lighthearted joke and words spoken in friendly jest spread out from the emperor. So alike to another moment, another man, and another’s blood spreading on the ground; his blood swirling in listless puddles of crimson on the dark, cold cobbles.

His past crashed into him faster than Leonidas.

The man who hurt him, again and again, lunged towards him. Memory enveloped the world. The forest became a concrete jungle. The humid night turned refreshingly crisp, but there was a hidden edge to the comfortable darkness that gleamed, terrifying and threatening, from within the velvet folds of the city. Charekai jerked away violently, shoving his head and neck beneath the dangerous teeth and landing with his weight on his right foreleg. His thick ruff of fur was pulled, soft sandy hued hair was torn from his skin. It was better than taking teeth to his shoulder, better the vicious attack tearing his wound deeper and more of his blood splattering across the alley. If he had a second to think, he would have realized there was something uncannily wrong about the scene. The dead-ended niche of darkness and rot was painted with crimson blood shining in the street lights. Too much blood surrounding him to have come from the wound on his shoulder. But he did not know, he was acting on instinct to survive.

His former lover was positioned perfectly, teeth pulling away from his shoulder. The other man was enraged, blinded by anger and expecting him to surrender in that moment, to back down and let him kill him in the forgotten alleyway. No. Charekai responded only moments after the attack, moments after his fur had been torn from his skin with a stinging tear of hair and skin. He twisted his body. The other man was smaller and fast, but the witch was agile enough. His head and neck swung beneath his opponent’s. He pulled his lips back from his teeth, mouth opened wide. The man had hurt him, controlled him, whispered threats of violence and made Charekai believe the lies he spoke were truth. He had promised to kill him and as surely as the sun had set that day, there he was.

Lamyrin fully intended to do as he had promised.

There was no love lingering between them, and perhaps that was why Charekai felt no guilt going for his throat. Perhaps the cold, aching emptiness echoing where emotion had once brimmed joyous and burning allowed him to close his teeth around his flesh with enough force to taste blood and see his life fade, see the energy dull around him. But the air was empty and heavy; the ground beneath his feet was soft and beneath the salty, metallic scent of blood the sweet perfume of plants filtered in. He had blood in his mouth. Deep copper brown fur filled his vision. His eyes widened, jaw loosening and he scrambled backward, away from the man he had challenged. Leonidas, his name was Leonidas.

Head lowered, neck arched, Charekai presented a defensive stance to his opponent with his short, sharp antlers threatening injury if he charged. The taste of blood was on his tongue. Before that night he had killed without issue, but he had never had the flavor of another’s life on his tongue, he had never torn their throat from their neck and watched as they gasped and collapsed. Until then, he had never killed someone he had once loved. He took a few more steps back. Leaves crackled under his feet. He focused on the sound. In a desperate search for reality he stared around at the darkness, at Leonidas with his bloodied coat gilded silver by moonlight. The crackle of leaves, the pain of his shoulder, the smell of bloo-no the smell of the forest wilting in the humid, hot night. He tasted salt.

The world was fitting itself back together, pieces locking together and repressed memories sinking beneath the easy confidence he presented. Uneasiness remained, his stance unsteady and his gaze distant.

”Shit.”

The battle was meant to be just entertainment for him.

Stats:
Injured. His shoulder is starting to stiffen, making it more difficult to use his left fore. His right shoulder is also a stiff and sore from both Leonidas's charge and Charekai's attack.

Disoriented from the vivid flashback. He lost some hair on his shoulder from Leonidas's bite.

1/1 full dodge, 1/3 partial dodges, 1/4 attacks
Summary:
Charekai continues to banter with Leonidas as he hits the other man. However, seeing him injured, scrambling to his feet and lunging at him with so much anger, triggers a flashback to his ex-lover Lamyrin's attempt to kill him. Certain that he is in that moment, Charekai dodges to the right, dropping his head and neck to try to force Lamyrin(Leonidas) to latch onto an uninjured part of him(partial dodge used). He doesn't manage to entirely dodge the attack, instead, his opponent gets a mouth full of his thick mane. Still caught up in his flashback, he swings his head around and underneath his opponent's head, his horns aimed for the underside of his head. Thinking that Leonidas is Lamyrin, and that he intends to kill him, Charekai bites down on his throat with the intent to tear it out and leave him to bleed out(sword of accuracy used). The vivid reliving of the trauma starts to fade, intruded by the sudden differences between the memory and reality that he notices. He releases Leonidas and scrambles back, distancing himself from the emperor. He puts himself in a very defensive stance, hyper alert and his sharp antlers pointed towards Leo. Charekai is still very much out of it and trying to come back to reality. The fun and games are over, and he is very open to an attack.

“Sometimes the right path is not always the easiest one.”
(Emperor of Sharad) played by perm_identity Carhartt, posted on schedule 05-05-2017, 12:33 PM. link #8

LEONIDAS
This wasn’t a fucking game. How dare he even ruminate such fallacies?! Leonidas was already an extremely stoic and serious creature, so one could imagine that a battle of this importance wouldn’t be taken lightly. The last thing this life altering battle was, was a fucking game. Pain surged through his entire frame, stemming from his back right slamming into the brutally hard earth. He did everything in his power to bite past the anguish and retaliate with full power. It didn’t matter if Charekai was just teasing, this wasn’t the time nor the place. His Laissez faire attitude only made it harder on himself because the more it was played the more seething anger and determination swept over Leonidas. Now, more than ever before Leonidas was ready to throw Charekai down to the ground, bloody and bruised to the point of unconsciousness and retain his rightful title.

In a flash of fury, Leonidas twisted his lissome frame and jerked his dished dial towards his foe. Lips curled back viciously as pearly whites were revealed. The bright moon reflected off their glossy surface. Daggers skidded across the ground as his nape stretched forward ready for contact. Just as the edges of his enamels scrapped flesh, Charekai jerked away. Jaws clamped shut with every ounce of force only to grab a mouth full of thick hair. Flared nostrils brushed against his dense pelt. The opponent’s thick musk laced with the putrid scent of flesh and blood permeated Leonidas’s senses. The taste and texture of his coat pressing against his tongue made his abdomen churn. Violently he spat the moist clump from his mouth as his tongue worked furiously to remove the small strands that clung to his enamels and gums. Harshly he slammed down on his haunches, his hocks nearly touching the ground and retracted backwards. It was an ample attempt to gain some distance from Charekai, whom was soon to counterattack; but alas Leonidas was too late.

The emperor only retracted a few skidding steps to watch the feline like equine turn its loftier frame, maw agape and enamels flying towards the underside of Leonidas’s dial. There he threw his dished dial to the starry sky, his massive antlers brushing against his own withers, feathers and beads quaked and clanked against ivory branches. Charekai’s enamels clamped down on the underside of his nape just behind his wideset and protruding jowls. A sharp and boisterous howl escaped his charcoal lips as the agony rushed throughout his entire frame. He had positioned himself just far enough that Charekai’s enamels missed a main artery and his jugular. Although painful as hell, the wound was not life threatening. With writhing rage, he jerked away, up and to the left. As he lurched, hide and flesh tore and ripped away, only increasing the excruciating pain. Daggers flew sideways, begging for some space as he was stunned from the pure and unfiltered anguish. Luckily as Leonidas retreated, so did Charekai. His barrel heaved as his lungs burned, begging for oxygen. The pain rapidly raced through his entire frame like unwavering poison. Sweat beaded across his glossy pelt as he watched his own blood drip onto the darkened earth. Instead of taking the successful attack as a warning, it only made him more eager to trounce the bastard standing before him.

Blind with rage and the adrenaline still pumping violently through his veins he was ready to rip every fiber and muscle from Charekai’s foolish bones. He wanted nothing more than to watch him pinned beneath Leonidas’s daggers begging for his life to be spared. The twisted thoughts and gruesome images flashed through as sapphire orbs glistened beneath the moon’s vivid light. Charekai looked around the obscure forest with a look of confusion. It was the perfect opportunity to attack and give the bastard what he deserved! Without any hesitation, the emperor exploded into action. Muscles rippled beneath his metallic like pelt as he surged forward in a blur of fury. The steady reminder of pain was still there but with enough adrenaline, he bit the inner side of his cheek and pushed through it. He had to! When it was all over and everything had been said and done, he could rest and worry about his wounds. Antlers dropped protecting his dial and already damaged throat as he charged Charekai’s right side. Leonidas knew his left forelimb was damaged and assumed he wouldn’t be able to dodge away as quickly if he attacked from his left side. Trying to position himself so his massive antlers were in line with Charekai’s hip, he made it look as if he was going to try and gore him with his ivory daggers crowned upon his dial. At the last minute, he made devious effort to pivot on his forelimbs and aim his back end towards his opponents face, nape and or shoulder to deliver a full double barrel kick. He tried to be conniving in tricking his opponent. Having such a powerful crown of ivory daggers was an advantage and most would think he would use it to the fullest, however Leonidas was out for blood and didn’t want to offer a predictable attack. There his back daggers kicked out with all his force. He could feel the twinge and ache from his right side but he angled where his left would make the most contact. Leonidas was done playing this like a gentleman. With the way Charekai went for his throat with such malicious intent, this battle was now life or death.

Summary » Once Leonidas twists and turns to bite, his teeth graze Charekai’s skin and gets a mouth full of hair. There he sits on his haunches and skids back a few steps to gain space from Charekai. (Partial Dodge Used) This offers just enough distance for Charekai’s Auto Hit to not be life threatening but offers a rather painful and nasty bite behind his jaws, under his nape. Pain is overwhelming as he tries to gather space, which Charekai skitters back as well. Leonidas is further enraged and notices Charekai looking around somewhat confused taking the perfect opportunity to attack. He surges forward to Charekai’s right side where he tries to line up his antlers to Charekai’s hip. He acts as if he is going to try and hit him with his antlers but at the last second pivots on his front as he does a full barrel kick towards his face, neck and/or shoulder.
Damage Taken » The scrape across his right eye is no longer bleeding but it was close enough to his socket to cause it to swell, thus hindering his sight. The swelling is there but not enough to cause too much issues. He has a deep slash on the outside of his left hindlimb from below his hock down across the cannon bone to the pastern and his right haunches (such as is hock, hip, ankle) is bruised and throbbing from hitting the ground so hard, it is stiff. He has a somewhat deep wound under his nap behind his jaw. It’s bleeding and extremely painful, however it is not life threatening.

“When will you learn the road to hell is paved with more than just good intentions?”
(Wanderer) played by perm_identity Mazzira, posted on schedule 05-08-2017, 11:47 AM. link #9
Hazy and shifting, there was a forest, an opponent and the smell of blood and sweat thick in the air. A battle meant merely to shrug off the incessant itch of boredom, turned into a nightmarish concoction of memories and pain. His shoulder ached. The sharp twinge of the bruised muscles, the dull throb of the fresh wound anchored the warping reality to him, stilling the nauseating mix of cold stone and moonlight trees. Five things echoed in his mind, the words heavy on his lips but never spoken. One, metallic blood thick on his tongue, two, the hot, wet forest scent, three, his weakened shoulder announcing agony to his body, so stiff and forced still he shook imperceptibly in the darkness, four, leaves crackling beneath feet, the ground shaking with hooves striking leaf litter. And five.

Leonidas, gilded silver by moonlight, so close to him and moving closer.

His body was slow to react, the connection between mind and body moving syrupy slow, the cloying sweetness of reality painful, but welcome more than the terror of memory. He should move, he should dodge away from the crown of antlers aimed for his chest, but the signals were lost. He had followed the charge unconsciously, self-preservation lingering through his disconnect. Despite the speed of Leonidas’s attack, he found himself facing sharp tines with his injured shoulder. A momentary pulse of pain from his left reminded him of the agony that would follow another hit from those daggers of bone. Part of his mind noted that perhaps his opponent had intended to strike him elsewhere. Part of his mind remained out of touch with his body still, lingering in a memory of terror and rage freezing him in that quiet moment he decided he must kill Lamyrin.

Blue-green eyes watched, confused and distant, Leonidas come closer. In a moment, he felt reality fall as if it were shimmering shards of crystal held around him. Mirrors, suspended around his midnight arena of choice, flashing glimpses of a past he only half remembered except in the few moments that startled his cool composure and forced him to recall every painful moment. But oh, they had dropped. They were shattered. His mind was clear and sharp. He wasted not a moment assessing Leonidas. There would be no chance of dodging his antlers. But there was dark blood dripping down his left hind, a slash from his hock to his pastern. Charekai’s disadvantage showed in that moment, in his mistimed lurch forward and left. The power of his hind legs compensated for the weakness in his injured shoulder, but he was unsure, unstable and leaping from a standstill to avoid the horns aimed for his shoulder.

Only for his opponent twist mid-stride with dexterity and skill that would have been awe-inspiring if it were not a blow meant for his head. A blow he was leaping towards in his attempt to dodge. The lack of forethought was the cause of a shock of pain and strength running from his neck down his body. It threw him off course. He tilted his head to the right as if it would lessen the pain, as if it would prevent the hot, sticky blood from overflowing into his thick mane. Any lingering traces of his past surged back to him, splinters of moments so alike to the one he was hurtling through that they pained him more than Leonidas’s hind feet connecting with his neck. He could smell the other man’s blood, he could feel a hot drop fly from his leg wound and hit his soft fur.

It was no longer a game. The game had ended the moment reality had split in two. Leonidas may have hurt him badly, he may have left him with a temporary hitch in his smooth gate, but there was no victory more decisive than permanently laming his opponent. Charekai twisted his neck further to the right, launching in the direction Leonidas would retreat with jaws open and bloodied teeth aimed to latch onto an already injured leg. Instinct and intelligence, fueled by a long burning, achingly cold rage transferred in the midst of battle from a dead man to a living emperor.

The moment was clear and precise. He would win the battle and rid himself of the sickening memories.

Stats:
Injured. His shoulder is making him lame on left foreleg. His right shoulder is also a stiff and sore from both Leonidas's charge and Charekai's attack. He now has a deep bleeding cut on the right side of his crest from Leonidas's attack.

1/1 full dodge, 0/3 partial dodges, 0/4 attacks
Summary:
Disorientated and confused, Charekai tries to ground himself and does not realise Leonidas is attacking until it's too late. However, he had been subconsciously matching his charge, keeping his front end facing Leonidas. The worst of the dissociation fades in time for him to leap out of the way of Leo's charge, too late, however, and straight into the kick aimed for him(partial dodge used). He takes one of Leonidas's hind hooves to his crest, not far from his head. A deep, bloody gash is left bleeding. Charlie twists to his right, launching towards Leonidas and aiming to grab the tendons of his injured hind leg(attack used).

LEONIDAS
Fortitude and determination swept through Leonidas’s sleek frame as he bounded into action. Muscles bulged and quivered with each contraction, covered in a slick sheen of sweat and crimson plasma. The details of the opaque forest blurred as his sapphire orbs narrowed in on his foe. He wanted nothing more than to find success in his devious attack. There was no time for manners and fighting fairly. Charekai had made it clear that this wasn’t a gentleman’s battle. Charcoal daggers scrapped across the hardened earth as a flurry of ivory antlers and russet tendrils swept toward Charekai. Dried leaves, pine needles, and debris shifted as bodies collided. His gaze met his opponents for a split second. It was just enough time to see the glazed over look of the fool. It was as if he was far off in some other moment in time. Was he dazed from the wounds? Had he bit off more than he could chew? Either way Leonidas didn’t let up, but instead persisted further with even persisted more adamantly. Charekai wasn’t focused or nearly as resolute as the Emperor, thus offering Leonidas the upper hand. It was the opportune time to give everything Leonidas had to show his devotion to Sharad and his empire.

Just as his supple frame neared Charekai’s side, he watched meticulously as Charekai leapt forward attempting to dodge his massive crown of ivory antlers. A sinister smile shaped his chapped and cracked lips as Charekai fell right into the hole Leonidas intended him to. There Leonidas jerked to the right and diverted his perfectly planned attack, changing directions faster than a blink of an eye. It couldn’t have gone any better than planned. Charekai leapt forward right into Leonidas’s mighty double barrel kick. The Kinetic energy from the ferocious kick from his left rear was then transferred into his opponent’s crest. The satisfying sound of the contact plummeted into the atmosphere with a heavy thud. Once the kick was delivered Leonidas tucked his back end beneath him and lurched forward, careful to land on his left first. His right ached and throbbed as the crimson liquid ran down and stained his once pristine pelt. Leonidas was sure not to allow the triumph of such an intelligent and well thought out attack muddy his focus. This battle was not over until this son of a bitch was on the ground.

As his back dagger hit the realm’s soil, he was ready for another attack. His mind was clear and oddly focused. The only sound he could hear was the heavy pumping of his racing heart in his audits. Everything around him stood still as he focused on Charekai. He had never been so determined in his life. He would not fall at the hand of a brazen fool. Sharad’s empire would prevail by Leonidas’s undying dedication, concentration and ambition. Not only was he ready to deliver another strike, he was also prepared for Charekai’s counterattack. His orbs watched as the foe twisted and launched towards him, a disoriented wave of ivory, ebony and crimson. The stench of his musk and blood permeated Leonidas’s senses but it did not waiver his swift response. Instead of moving away in the direction anticipated he locked his shoulders, and watched carefully waiting to see where Charekai aimed to sink his enamels. Noticing his intent in just enough time Leonidas tucked his left rear pillar deep beneath his body and sat deep. There he whirled around, almost all of his weight on his haunches. Massive ivory antlers threw in the direction of Charekai’s dial and his agape maw. Tendrils, beads and feathers whipped through the atmosphere. With his brows furrowed forward, he threw every ounce of weight into the jerk of his dial in high hopes the tines of his dagger like antlers would pierce the bastard wherever they saw fit. The valley of death could not be feared for he was the shadow and here was his descent

Summary » Once Leonidas kicks and makes contact he lurches forward, to where all four are on the ground. There he spins back towards Charekai ready for another attack. He watches as Charekai snakes his neck to bite Leonidas’s hurt back leg. Instead of lurching or dodge with moving sideways as expected he locks his shoulders and tucks his butt underneath him so Charekai misses completely. (Full Dodge Used) As Charekai is striking forward Leonidas half rears pivoting on his haunches and swings his neck and antlers as hard as he can to strike Charekai’s face or anything he can get close enough too in hopes his antlers will stab him. (Attack Used)
Damage Taken » The scrape across his right eye is no longer bleeding but it was close enough to his socket to cause it to swell. It’s bleeding and painful, however it is not life threatening.

The still, humid air was a flurry of activity, a peaceful forest scene shattered by two forces entwined. Cold moonlight filtered through the leaves onto Charekai and his opponent, bleaching colour from their skin and lending every hair, every glistening smear of blood, a silver glow. His target was snatched away from him, tucked beneath the smaller man’s body so he could not tear his tendons from his already injured leg. A decisive victory that would have been. He could have left the man permanently lame, forever suffering from the shame of his defeat. There would have been something sad about that, should it have happened. It would have settled a guilty weight on Charekai, his shoulders bearing the damage he had done, the consequence he could have avoided if he were not so foolish and persuaded by boredom to act, to strike out.

He aborted the strike.

Pulling away, jerking his head up and shifting the momentum of his powerful body, he swept passed Leonidas in a smooth canter stride. His left fore was snatched from the ground quickly, the only pause in his otherwise elegant steps. Perhaps it was lucky he had moved away early, perhaps it had been a premonition of danger. But oh, was it fortunate that he was already a distance away from his opponent when the smaller man spun on the spot, lips pulled back and mouth open wide as if he could reach Charekai’s flesh. The crown of antlers aimed where he would have been, had he not gracefully stepped away. Blood had dried on the sharp tines, his blood drawn from his ski. His shoulder still ached from it, his left leg weak from the damage done. It upset his otherwise smooth stride, a dangerous pause to his step. He could no longer hide it. As he slowed through his paces to a standstill the lameness became all the more apparent, the pain begging him to cease movement with hot, insistent flares of agony.

There, where the distance between them was too great for Leonidas to charge, for either of them to attack again, he stood immovable. A silver gilded figure in the moonlit forest, his armor stained with the blood drying on his shoulder, the fresh blood from the split skin beneath the thick fur upon his crest. His blue-green eyes, shadowed by the midnight darkness, gazed across the untouchable distance between them and considered his opponent. From injury to injury his inspection moved. The other man’s eye was swollen, a cut upon his cheek no longer bleeding. One side of his rump was scratched, swollen in places and the opposite hind leg torn from hock to pastern. A deep lungful of heavy, still air rushed into his lungs. He breathed it out in a soft, pleased huff.

Respectfully, he bowed his head to the emperor. Leonidas’s position was in peril while he was injured. It would be a simple matter to take the mantle of leader should the urge arise. A smirk twisted on his lips, both playful and challenging.

”Good fight.”

With those words he rolled his shoulder, his face tight with pain, and limped towards the bone white temple of Sharad.

0/1 full dodge, 0/3 partial dodges, 0/4 attacks
Summary:
Charekai withdrew from his attack the moment he noticed Leonidas's dodging, and rather than stopping, he continued his momentum into an easy canter passed Leonidas's hind end(full dodge used). A fair distance from Leonidas's, so that charging him would be ill-considered due to injuries, and an easy dodge for Charlie, he stops. He ends the fight respectfully, lowering his head to Leonidas, then heads toward the shrine to speak to Sharad.

Battle complete!

(Emperor of Sharad) played by perm_identity Carhartt, posted on schedule 05-26-2017, 09:18 AM. link #12

As quickly as it had started, this life altering battle was coming to an end. Enamels met nothing but air, clashing together with a harsh slam. The attack wasn’t successfully but Leonidas could still feel the energy within his veins continue to radiate; he refused to let disappoint ruin the moment. Quickly, the nimble emperor continued forward after his attack and pulled around into a tight turn to face the foe. Sweat beaded his pelt as he gazed heavily on the site before him. With parts of his hide missing, blood stained and sore Leonidas couldn’t be prouder. He could have given up, given into the defeat of his heart but he refused. Instead he picked himself up off the ground and fought with every ounce of strength and pride he had within his lithe frame.

With his heart pounding wildly against his chest, his barrel heaved heavily. Lungs burned as they begged for oxygen. The severity of everything began to weigh in and as he gazed as his opponent, he realized he had succeeded. His prayers had been answered. His title would remain. There was a sense of nostalgia as he stood there in the stale summer night air. Refusing to blink he just stared, nares flaring as his lungs begged for more oxygen. Would Charlekia accept his fate or would they continue to brawl? Leonidas would fight until his lungs gave out. He would rather die than lose Sharad. With the threat of losing this place, he came to realize how important it truly was.

Sapphire orbs watched as the foe bowed his dial in a respectful manner. ”Good fight.” The words echoed in his audits as he remained still for a moment. Everything was still soaking in and he was still coming down from the adrenaline rush. There, the emperor slowly tilted his ivory horned dial. “It was a great fight.” He commented with raspy tones. There he lifted his dial and looked to the equine before him. They both knew who it was that had come on top, yet he did not allow it to stroke his ego. Losing would have been the easy way out. Now that he had been deemed the successor in this challenge even more responsibility lay upon his shoulders. Swallowing harshly, with his dial holding high he cleared his raspy and dry through. “If you seek Sharad as your home, you are welcome.” Pausing for a moment he pivoted for a moment, wincing slightly as the pain in his body ached. “Come see me when you are ready. This isn’t the end of us.” There he smiled gently. His tones were not malicious nor laced with ill intent, instead hopeful. There was no hate or quarrel in Leonidas’s heart, just determination.

Like the gracious and stoic leader, he was, he pivoted on his haunches with a slight wince and retreated into the dark shadows of the forest. His mind already reeling with his intended plans for Sharad. This wasn’t just a victory for Leonidas, but a victory for the entire empire of Sharad.
